Mohegan Inspire Soft To Open On Nov. 30

Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort, a complex in Incheon, Korea, will have a “soft opening” next Thursday, Nov. 30, according to the Mohegan Tribal Games Association, a public relations agency.

It will be a three-hotel tower with 1,275 rooms, a 15,000-seat multipurpose stadium, conference, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) facilities, the building’s signature restaurant, and a “digital entertainment street,” the U.S.-based Mohegan Gaming said in a press release Thursday.

Splash Bay, a glass dome indoor water park, is also partially available, and the pool is available to hotel guests at an early stage.

The property’s foreign-only casino and retail services “will open in early 2024, with other facilities to follow by the first half of next year,” the company said.

“This is a momentous occasion for Mohegan, which marks a historic partnership for our tribe and a new turning point in the world’s premier integrated entertainment resort system,” James Gesner Jr., chairman of the Mohegan Tribal and Mohegan Management Board, said in prepared remarks.

He added, “It is an honor to work closely with the Korean government to make this day possible, and we look forward to helping Inspire contribute to the local and regional economy by creating local jobs, allowing visitors to enjoy the Incheon area, and attracting new businesses near real estate.”

Mohegan Inspire says it plans to launch a “consumer promotion and brand campaign” to mark the complex’s first opening phase, and attract holiday visitors.

Ray Pineault, president and CEO of Mohegan Gaming, was quoted as saying that the opening of Korean properties is “important” for the group “not only for our growth in the global market, but for the opportunity to share Mohegan’s legacy and spirit with the world.”

Following the first soft opening, the property’s shopping mall and foreigner-only casino are “expected to open in the first quarter of 2024, according to the announcement.

Chen Si, president of Mohegan Inspire, told GGRAsia in July that the company would first have to “get a five-star hotel rating” before it could formally apply for a casino license.

The executive said the company aims to start operating casinos by the 2024 Chinese New Year holiday period, which starts Feb. 10.

Discovery Park, an outdoor entertainment facility covering about 100,000 square meters (1.08 million square feet); an international food court, along with Splash Bay’s water attractions, an immersive content exhibition center, and an indoor children’s playground, said the property’s promoter.
