Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun (President of the Korea Archery Association) made a surprise appearance at the awards ceremony for the archery stadium held in Les Invalides, Paris, France on the 28th (local time).
On that day, at the awards ceremony for the women’s team archery event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Korean women’s archery team won the gold medal by defeating China in a shoot-off and took the top spot on the awards stage.

Chairman Chung Eui-sun congratulated the Korean national team consisting of Im Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University), Nam Su-hyeon (Suncheon City Hall), and Jeon Hoon-yeong (Incheon City Hall) by presenting awards.
Chairman Chung attended the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics as the chairman of the Korea Archery Association, but was not known as an award presenter.
President Chung sent a message of encouragement to the national archery team, which left for Paris, France on the 16th, through Vice Chairman Jang Young-sul, saying, “Don’t be shaken and always believe in yourself.

It is well known among sports fans that Chairman Chung’s ‘love for archery’ and the advanced administration of the Korea Archery Association have led to the world’s strongest Korean archery.
Since assuming his post as the chairman of the Korean Archery Association, Chairman Chung has visited the local stadiums whenever the Summer Olympics were held, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2012 London Olympics, and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
In December of last year, when asked about his participation in the Paris Olympics at the “2023 Korean Archery 60th Anniversary Commemorative Event,” Chairman Chung also declared, “I will go.”
At the time, Chairman Chung added, “We are developing new training techniques (to be provided to the archery team by Hyundai Motor Group).”
Chairman Chung’s love of archery has been passed down through generations since Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo took office as the chairman of the Korean Archery Association in 1985.
The Korean Archery Association has been the longest-running sponsor of any single-event sports organization in Korea since his son, Chairman Chung Eui-sun, took over as chairman in 2005.
