The Philippine casino segment generated gross gaming revenue of 56.85 billion PHP ($1.03 billion) in the third quarter, up slightly from 56.61 billion PHP in the previous quarter. The figure was up 15.1% from a year earlier.
This is according to data released Thursday by the Philippine Play and Game Company (Pagcor), the Philippines’ casino regulator.
Casino GGR figures exclude revenue from bingo operations and electronic game sales.
The commercial casino licensed by Pagcor has a GGR of just below 51.91 billion PHP for the third quarter of 2023, an increase of almost 16.0% over the previous quarter’s PHP of 44.75 billion PHP.
The biggest year-over-year increase in quarterly GGR was Clark’s commercial casinos, up 45.8% from just over 8.88 billion PHP.
The large entertainment city resort in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, posted a GGR of 42.66 billion PHP in the three months to Sept. 30, up 11.5% year-over-year.
The third-quarter GGR of Pagcor-run games (including Casino Philippine venues) reached 4.94 billion PHP, up 6.8% year-over-year.
Fargo’s chairman and chief executive, Alejandro Tengco, said in July that the Philippine gaming sector expects to generate at least 272.74 billion pounds of GGR per year by 2023. The figures include revenue from bingo operations and electronic game sales.
