A smiling ‘Coach Flower’ gives a thumbs up to the team’s revived bats

“Yoon Young-chul pitches 5 scoreless innings, lives up to coach’s expectations”

The Kia Tigers were perfect in the two-hitter, winning the final game of the week to clinch second place in the league.

On June 9, Kia won 8-2 against the Doosan Bears in Jamsil. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved KIA’s record to 37 wins, 1 loss and 26 draws on the season, moving them within half a game of the leaders, the LG Twins, who lost on the same day.

Kia sent Yoon Young-cheol to the mound to prevent a weekend series sweep. Kia manager Lee Beom-ho sent out the following starting lineup against Doosan starter Choi Jun-ho: Park Chan-ho (shortstop), Kim Do-young (third base), Na Sung-beom (right field), Choi Hyung-woo (designated hitter), Lee Woo-sung (first base), Socrates (left field), Choi Won-joon (center field), Han Jun-soo (catcher), and Hong Jong-pyo (second base).

Kia had runners on first and second with no outs in the top of the first inning before Na Sung-beom hit a leadoff triple to center field. Lee Woo-sung followed with an infield single to score the go-ahead run.

Kia made it 4-0 in the top of the second inning when Kim Do-young doubled to left-center and Na Sung-beom singled to center field. In the top of the fifth inning, Kia practically sealed the victory. Against the new pitcher, Kim Dong-ju, KIA had runners on first and second after Choi Hyung-woo singled and Socrates walked. Choi then drove a 144km/h fastball from Kim Dong-joo over the wall for a 105-meter triple.

Yoon showed his crisis management skills in each inning to keep the Doosan bats in check. In the first and third innings, Yoon induced bases-loaded walks to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the second inning, with runners on second and third, he induced a swinging strikeout of Cho Soo-hyun to prevent a run from scoring.

Yoon took the mound in the bottom of the fifth and faced runners on first and second, but a failed double steal saved the day. Yoon got the final batter, Lee Yoo-chan, to ground out to shortstop after an eight-pitch at-bat to secure his fifth win of the season.

Kia then extended its lead to 8-0 in the top of the eighth on a triple by Hong Jong-pyo and an RBI groundout by Park Chan-ho. In the bottom of the eighth, Heo gave up a two-run home run to Kyung-min Heo, but Kia 바카라 was able to close out the game without any major threats.

After the game, Lee Beom-ho said, “It was a well-balanced game at the plate. Yoon Young-cheol has been a bit disappointing lately, but today he fulfilled the manager’s expectations by pitching five scoreless innings. The bullpen did their part as well, showing a good relay pitching performance,” said Lee, who first praised the pitching staff.

“The offense was very active from the beginning. In the first inning, Na Sung-beom did a great job in the center field with two RBIs, and Kim Do-young created a lot of chances with three 바카라사이트 순위 hits. Choi Won-joon’s three-run home run was also a big contribution to the team’s victory when we needed extra runs,” he said, giving a thumbs-up to the hitters.

In closing, Lee said, “Well done to all the players for giving it their all all week. We will prepare for a better performance next week and thank the fans for their support until the end.”

After the weekend series against Doosan, KIA will begin a nine-game road trip in the Seoul metropolitan area next week with back-to-back games against the SSG Landers in Munhak on Nov. 11-13 and the KT WIZ in Suwon on Nov. 14-16.
