Ohtani is the scariest MLB hitter

Ohtani started the 2024 Major League Atlanta Braves home game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on the 6th (Korea time) as the second designated hitter and scored four hits in four at-bats (two homers) with three RBIs and two runs, leading the Dodgers to a 5-1 victory.

Ohtani, who had three hits, including a home run in six games the previous day (5th), showed off his peak hitting sense for two consecutive days.

Ohtani hit a two-run homer from his first at-bat in the first inning, and hit a single in succession in the third and sixth innings. He also hit a large homer with a flying distance of 464 feet (about 141.4 meters) in the last at-bat in the eighth inning.

Ohtani, who recorded four hits in a game in 337 days since the game against the Houston Astros (4 hits in five at-bats) on June 4 last year, raised his batting average to 0.364 for the season, ranking first in this category.

He also added his 9th and 10th home run of the season, tying for first in the home run category with Gunner Henderson (Baltimore Orioles), Marcel Ozuna (Atlanta), and Mike Trout (LA Angels).

Currently, Ohtani is the scariest hitter in the Major League. He is targeting opposing pitchers’ balls with exquisite but powerful batting.

In addition to batting average and home runs, Ohtani had 52 hits, a double (14), slugging percentage (0.685), OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage 1.111), Ruta (98), and slugging (25), all ranked at the top of the standings. In addition, he edged out Trout (0.321) to rank No. 1 in ISO, an indicator of slugging percentage.

He is showing even performance in other batting indicators. He is ranking fourth with a score of 30, one behind the tying for first, and tied for 11th with 25 RBIs. He also ranked fourth with a on-base percentage of 0.426.

If Ohtani maintains this pace throughout the season, he can achieve his best performance in a single season. A two-time American League Most Valuable Player award winner, Ohtani once ranked first in triple (2021) and home run (2023). This season, Ohtani is poised to surpass first place in both batting average, hits, home runs and slugging percentage.

Baseball fans praised Ohtani’s great performance, including “a true superstar,” “a real cartoon baseball,” and “not like the same human being.”

Despite favorable comments, Ohtani displayed humble response. “I don’t particularly pay attention. I rarely look at personal records during the season,” Ohtani said. “I have a lot of work to do now (rather than looking at personal performance). As the second batter, I need to understand the flow (of offense) and get used to it.”
