TEAM LOL WINS GOLD MEDAL WITH 2-0 WIN OVER CHINESE TAIPEI

The South Korean esports League of Legends (LoL) team has won gold at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. The team defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in the LoL final on Monday at the Hangzhou Esports Center in Hangzhou, China. With the victory, the team was crowned LoL champions, the most popular sport at the Games, the first time esports has been an official sport at the Games .For the final, South Korea played Jung-hoon “Chobi” Jeong (22-Zenji) instead of captain Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk (27-T1) in the mid lane for the first time since the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the first set of picks and bans (ban picks), Chobi drew gasps from the commentators when he picked his specialty, the champion ari, which symbolizes Korea’s Kumho concept. Chinese Taipei countered with a ‘joker pick’ by ‘Rest’ Shui-Sze, playing Hsin-Jid on the top lane .Korea took the first dragon cleanly at around five minutes, and took the lead at six minutes when Seo “Canavi” Jin-hyuk (23-Jingdong Gaming), who was ganking the top lane, killed Rest in a teamfight with Chou “Zeus” Chou (19-T1).Chinese Taipei tried to make amends, with Hong “Casa” Hsiao-hsuan (26-Weibo Gaming) picking up back-to-back kills in the jungle and bottom lane engagements. In a big engagement (hanta) around the 21st minute, he caught Chobi and broke away with a sharp link-up play. However, South Korea would not allow them to get any closer. Korea quickly took the lead at 25-minutes in the Hanta, with Ryu “Keria” Min-seok (21-T1) initiating, taking down Ji-woo “Dogo” Wooz (20-Ultra Prime) and picking up the Baron “Nasher” buff. With the game hanging in the balance, once the flow was broken, Taiwan crumbled and Korea took the first set after 29 minutes .In the second set, both Korea and Chinese Taipei chose one-hit combinations to start the game .Ruler picked off Hsiao-hsueh “Swordart” Hsu (27-Ultra Prime) in the bottom lane with Keria and Kanabi around the six-minute m ark, but Zhu “Popo” Zhu (24-Edward Gaming), roaming in from the mid lane, evened the score with back-to-back tower dives on a depleted Ruler and Kanabi .Korea regrouped and focused on objective fights in the face of an unexpectedly fierce Taiwanese counterattack .Starting with a kill on “Popo” Zhu Jun-ran (24-Edward Gaming)’s Nico, Korea pushed back a fighting Taiwanese team in the mid lane and took control of the game by releasing the Herald of the Gorge to take the second turret in the mid lane around the 18-minute mark. Chobi’s Azir pushed the Taiwanese players to one side with a skillful combo in the ensuing gank, and Ruler quickly widened the gap by picking off all of the clustered enemies with Keria. After winning the hantas in front of the Taiwanese main camp at 토토사이트 around the 25th minute, Korea continued to charge towards the nexus, winning the set 2:0 and the tournament without losing a set.
