The new organizing committee chairman, Kang Chang-hee, served as the first Minister of Science and Technology, a six-term member of the National Assembly, and the Speaker of the National Assembly.
After retiring from politics, he has been active in various fields, including as a visiting professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and as chairman of the Woonkyung Foundation.
