‘Hwoong Explosion’ KCC Defeats Jeongchang 108:99

Busan KCC, led by Heo Woong’s 10 three-pointers, defeated Anyang Jungkwanjang for its second straight win.

KCC won 108-99 at home against Jungkwanjang in the 2023-2024 Korean Professional Basketball League regular season at Sajik Gymnasium in Busan on Monday.

KCC, which improved to 19-15, remained in fifth place. They closed the gap to the third-place Changwon LG and Suwon KT 토토 (both 22-13) by 2.5 games.

On the other hand, Jung Kwan-jang has not been able to break out of its recent 11-game losing streak away from home. The 11-game losing streak surpassed the previous team’s own record of 10 consecutive away losses in 2010.

With 13 wins and 23 losses, Jeong Kwan-jang dropped from eighth place to ninth alone. Goyang Sono (13 wins, 22 losses) is now alone in eighth place.

After finishing the first quarter tied at 24-24, KCC pulled away in the second and third quarters to take a comfortable 77-60 lead after three.

Heung shot 15 three-pointers on the day, making 10 of them, and finished with 32 points. This ties the KCC record for most 3-pointers in a single game. The last time the team made 10 three-pointers in a game was in November 2006.

With his 23 points, KCC’s Lagunar surpassed the 11,000-point mark for his career in the regular season (11,13). This is the second record in KBL history. Before him, “National Treasure” center Seo Jang-hoon retired with 13,321 points.

For Jungkwanjang, Robert Carter, Bae Byeong-jun, and Jung Hyo-geun scored 17 points apiece, but they were unable to make up for the deficit that began to grow in the second quarter.
