Coach Park Heung-sik is a veteran leader who has proved his ability in various clubs, including the Samsung Lions, KIA Tigers, Nexen Heroes, and Lotte Giants, since his retirement from active duty. He joined Lotte’s second-tier batting coach last year and served as the first-tier head and batting coach this year, but his team was not there as he was notified of his inability to renew his contract with the appointment of head coach Kim Tae-hyung.
Coach Park Heung-sik is also well-known for his role as a “homer” to Lee Seung-yeop, who was called a “national batter” when he was an active player. When he was a batting coach for the Samsung Lions, he transformed Lee into a home run hitter representing the Korean pro baseball.
Coach Cho In-sung and Coach Boom Yum were previously recognized for their leadership and communication skills while playing for the Doosan Bears. Coach Kim Dong-han, who played for the Doosan Bears during his active career, was highly praised for his unique sincerity even after his transformation as a leader.
Doosan explained, “The coaching staff’s detailed positions, including coach Cho Woong-cheon, who previously joined the closing training and coached the pitching staff, and coach Kim Ji-yong, who was recognized as a playing coach in 2023, will be confirmed later.”
After the 2023 season, Doosan had a gap in its coaching staff as coaches Kim Joo-chan, Ko Young-min and Yoo Jae-shin moved to Lotte Giants, coach Jung Jae-hoon to KIA Tigers, and coach Kim Woo-seok to Hanwha Eagles, respectively. On top of that, even coach Jung Soo-sung, who was brought in by head coach Lee Seung-yeop himself, failed to renew his contract under agreement with the club.
With the start of the stove league, Doosan started to select its coaching staff and virtually completed the formation of its coaching staff for the 2024 season by recruiting new coaches Park Heung-sik, Cho In-sung, Boom Yum, and Kim Dong-han, following coach Cho Woong-cheon. It will lead Lee’s second season with the existing coaches Kim Han-soo, Koji Goto, Yuji Serizawa, Kwon Myung-chul, and Park Jung-bae.
